The Guilt Grabber
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Romans 8:1
Just because you feel guilty does not mean that you are guilty. You could have an overactive conscience, just like others who never feel guilt or remorse have an underactive conscience. When anyone grabs guilt it is a reflection of how unworthy they feel. Therefore, to try to mitigate the guilt they have grabbed they do good works as a way to ease the guilt and gain acceptance. The tyranny of guilt ensures that there is no rest, as perpetual guilt needs perpetual mitigation. Guilty people always proclaim they are fine as they feel guilty about saying they are not fine. When someone grabs guilt, they cannot grab God’s grace at the same time. So it becomes difficult for someone who feels guilty to receive from God. They can pray for others to receive but are themselves resistant to receive the grace of God. So don’t grab the guilt grab God’s grace!
Prayer - Father Lord give me the grace to drop the guilt and grab your grace. Give me the grace to know feeling guilty does not mean I am guilty, in Jesus name Amen!
